  • Senior players Eric Petgrave and Paul Cummings have been awarded green belts at recent gradings.  Richard Curtis and Ross Hooper won their 2nd Kyu brown belts at the grading at Worthing in September.
  • Junior players promoted at the Worthing and Surrey gradings were Gemma Dickenson and Charlie Clark (blue belt), Jake Mulley (green belt) and Ben Martin (orange belt).
  • Kerry Ford was awarded Sutton Young Sportsperson of the Year at the mayor's award ceremony for sports in Sutton on Monday.  Kerry was nominated by her school in recognition of her outstanding achievements this year including 9th place at the European Youth Oympics, 1st place at the British Trials and silver medals at international tournaments in Holland and Belgium.

This category of award was the most fiercely contested.  Also nominated by his school was Jack Beckwith, who finished in the top three.
  • All players who had competed at the London Youth Games were invited to the Mayor's reception at the same ceremony, and medals were awarded to those players who finished in the top 3 places at the Youth Games in June.  There was a mass exodus as soon as Kerry won her award:  the Westcroft players had to rush off to training in preparation for the British Junior Championships on Saturday.
